Opening Doors of Mercy
for our Homeless Neighbors

Dear Parishioners and friends of St. John’s & St. Thomas

The Outreach Program serving those in need has been busy indeed, and we anticipate continued growth in our program as the needs of our brothers and sisters determine what we can and should offer. A quick summary of last month: 192 hot lunch meals served on Fridays at noon, 86 visits made to our St. Teresa of Calcutta Clothing Center, 15 showers taken in our newly renovated facility, 8 loads of laundry completed, two computer classes offered, a trip to Salem Willows for 21 folks, 18 transportation needs satisfied, assistance with paperwork and ID cards for 6 individuals, 150 bag lunches distributed over 3 Sundays, assistance with furniture for two individuals, a Faith sharing talk on the second Friday, and celebration of 5 birthdays at our lunch on the first Friday. This summary is an example of what occurs consistently each and every month. Your continued prayers, support, and generosity is vital to the success of this program, as it truly takes a village to help so many in need. In preparation for the fall and winter months, I ask you at this time for specific donations which will help those living outdoors under these conditions: for Men and Women - winter coats, winter boots, hooded sweatshirts, sweaters, fleece jackets, backpacks, sleeping bags, blankets. Continued needs: New only men’s boxer briefs or boxer shorts size LARGE, deodorant, rosaries, medals, or religious pins. All donations can be dropped off at St. John’s Parish Center, Monday to Friday, from 9:30-3:30pm OR in a bin marked “for outreach program” in the upper church foyer after weekend masses. For St. Thomas parishioners, donations may be left at the Spiritual Center during the week. Thank you for your generosity and support!
