Opening Doors of Mercy
for our Homeless Neighbors

Dear parishioners and friends of St. John the Baptist & St. Thomas the Apostle Parishes,

I would like to share a brief update of some outreach offerings, all under the guidance and direction of the Peabody Board of Health during these pandemic times: Our Friday hot lunch and Sunday bag lunches are well attended by our brothers and sisters in Christ. On October 16 we will resume adding our homemade soups to the hot lunch, and, as you can imagine, these choices of hearty, tasty, soup are well received! Many folks take advantage of showers in our renovated bathroom in the St. Teresa of Calcutta Clothing Center, clothing, toiletries, and weekly laundry capability is also very popular. Additionally, every Friday an intake person from Eliot Services in Lynn is on site, to speak with those who need housing and other services such as medical transport and mental health. Our program is in full swing, albeit conducted differently, as we provide for safety and health in each and everyway possible.

I appeal to you at this time, sharing the need for the following items for you to consider for donation: adult sleeping bags, thermal underwear (men or women), gently used bed pillows, blankets or comforters (any size), Men’s winter coats and hats, sweatshirts (hooded or pullover), large compartment backpacks, winter boots (any size, men or women), fleece jackets for men or women, symbols of our faith such as rosaries, medals, bracelets. Your donations may be dropped off at the church hall of St. John’s on Friday mornings, from 9am to 11am, or to the Parish Center during the weekdays, from 9:30am to 1pm. Thank you always, for your prayers and support!

Please contact me if you have any questions….. Pat Adam, Outreach Coordinator (978) 335-2080.
